Trayak’s EcoImpact Sustainability Platform Now Supports LCAs Calculated with the EF Method

MASON, OH – October 28th, 2025

Trayak is proud to announce that the EcoImpact Sustainability Platform now supports LCAs calculated using the Environmental Footprint (EF) Method. The EF Method is an LCA framework that evaluates environmental impacts across 16 indicators.

Developed by the European Commission in 2013, the EF Method seeks to provide a standardized approach to measuring environmental impacts across products and sectors. Its adoption continues to grow worldwide, particularly in Europe, where it is the recommended methodology for LCAs and aligns with EU policy requirements.

The EF Method includes the following sixteen environmental indicators:

  • Climate Change (kg CO2 eq.)
  • Water Use (m3 deprived)
  • Resource Use – Fossil (MJ)
  • Resource Use – Minerals and Metals (kg Sb eq.)
  • Acidification (mol H+ eq.)
  • Land Use (Pt)
  • Freshwater Ecotoxicity (CTUe)
  • Particulate Matter (disease incidence)
  • Marine Eutrophication (kg N eq.)
  • Freshwater Eutrophication (kg P eq.)
  • Terrestrial Eutrophication (mol N eq.)
  • Human Toxicity – Cancer (CTUh)
  • Human Toxicity – Non-Cancer (CTUh)
  • Ionizing Radiation (kg U-235 eq.)
  • Ozone Depletion (kg CFC11 eq.)
  • Photochemical Ozone Formation (kg NMVOC eq)

The EF Method is also utilized in Oregon’s EPR eco-modulation framework and the top 25 producer LCA disclosures.

Other LCA methodologies such as IMPACT World+ (the methodology that EcoImpact-COMPASS is based on) remain available and valid. If you are interested in an analysis using the EF Method, please contact us or reach out to your Trayak representative.
