This past week, some Trayak team members had the opportunity to attend the SPC Advance 2025 conference where packaging and sustainability leaders came together to share insights and innovations in the field. The conference theme focused on watershed moments and how to create resilient systems. Despite the challenges the industry faces, the conference highlighted the reasons for optimism and the benefits of collaboration.

Standout Sessions

• What can be learned from EPR developments in the UK and EU: The speaker shared valuable insights from the UK and EU, where decades of experience with extended producer responsibility continue to shape more transparent, harmonized systems.
• Enhancing Sustainability with Functional Pack Design & Moonshots for Circularity: From functional package design using tools like COMPASS to “moonshots” that use AI to analyze waste at a molecular level, innovation was front and center.
• Rethinking Packaging for a Resilient Future: A thought-provoking session that challenged attendees to design systems and materials that can adapt to change, not just withstand it.

Trayak was proud to take part in the conversation through our workshop From Source To Sea: Assessing Macro- and Micro-Plastic Impacts in Life Cycle Assessments, led by Scott Hickman and Tanvi Jagtap. Additionally, our President, Prashant Jagtap, shared his expertise as part of a panel focused on ongoing efforts within the packaging industry to develop standardized methods for evaluating packaging’s environmental impact. The discussion explored the role of product category rules (PCRs) and environmental product declarations (EPDs) in advancing consistency and transparency across the industry. Together, these sessions highlighted how data-driven tools and life cycle assessments can provide actionable insights for understanding and reducing plastic impacts throughout the entire value chain.

Our team also enjoyed connecting with industry peers throughout the conference, including insightful discussions with partners like Plastic Ingenuity, Specright, and Ecosurety.
