Extended Producer Responsibility

Top 25 Producer Declarations

Trayak supports Oregon’s Top 25 large producers identified by the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality in achieving compliance with all requirements identified by The Plastic Pollution and Recycling Modernization Act. This law requires the Top 25 Producers of packaging, printing and writing paper, and food serviceware in Oregon to evaluate and disclose impacts of 1% of their products. This rule aims to increase transparency of the environmental impacts of major firms and assess the impact of the largest items in these firms’ portfolios.

To assess your impacts, producers need accurate data on their product portfolios that includes sales volumes of each SKU and information on primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging. Primary data is preferred by the Oregon DEQ wherever possible though secondary data is acceptable, so long as sufficient explanation is given.

Trayak’s Expert Guidance

With over 15 years of LCA experience, Trayak can support all phases of this project through data collection and modeling, data gap filling, supplemental report writing, third-party review, and regulatory acceptance support. Trayak can also help with processes preliminary to performing analysis such as SKU selection & batching. Ensuring efficient batching can deliver significant cost savings through reduction of total LCAs required. Trayak maintains relationships with external LCA reviewers who can fulfill the third-party verification for this obligation.

Trayak is currently assisting several producers already identified by the Oregon DEQ. We welcome the opportunity to assist any other companies with these requirements.
